Decision to White Label or Private Label my Protein Powder

    SOURCING
Update: Extremely surprised at how few manufacturers are available to manufacture clear protein powders for a low MOQ. Reached out to about 40 so far.

So, the plan (if I can actually find a white-label manufacturer for clear protein powders because they seem nonexistent) was to do just one SKU (flavor) of a clear protein that is good enough, I'd be proud to sell it under my brand. After enough sales of selling only that SKU, then I would go to...

Technically, they do as contracts were vague as the only thing I signed was a card authorization form. I went into this with the knowledge that I'd learn a lot on the way (I definitely have) but I've also learned lots of things the hard way. Noted. The credit card was where I was most likely...

Probably around $50 to $55 is going to be the price point so it at least can compete somewhat with other brands. If it were an unflavored powder to mix into juices then you still get all the calories and sugar from those juices, ya know? ***Chocolate is always my safe bet flavor as well...

Funny enough the 0% for first year card was in one of the top solutions to help fund so I'll keep all this in mind, thanks!

The marketing angle is that I want to target everyday people who normally wouldn't consume protein powder. Think instead of having a supplemented protein source, you just replace your high sugar orange juice or apple juice with a 100 calorie, 20g protein, 0 fat, 0 carb protein powder that can be...

Exactly, some education is required on that side, but it takes less convincing for people who already consume protein powders; working at GNC made me realize too many people are just looking for something different but don't even know clear protein powders exist.

I've technically already presold a few. I sold them to a friend of a friend who I normally would have no connection to, and just told him the situation afterwards and gave the money back. I say this because I know the product is good (or at least the private labeled flavors I'd been working on...

I had paid the current manufacturer $500 to do the flavor/formula testing and send me their refined versions of each flavor. We've gone through about 4 rounds of back and fourth "feedback to new flavor shipped out to me loops." $36 was still high but only because 144 quantity was their lowest...

I have a list of ingredients used in the formula but not the amounts of each. And each of those ingredients I've confirmed is healthy and safe for pretty much anyone.

I've ran some cheap facebook ads at only $5 a day which got 10 email subscribers after like 2 weeks, which I didn't see as worthwhile. I've made QR codes linking to my email sign up landing page and had them put up at nutrition stores and local gyms. And I've started making social media content...

Had the idea to pre-sell, tried building up an email list but haven’t found any success without any marketing budget. I’ve even got QR code business cards that link to my landing page for an email sign up. Only 16 subscribers Unless you had any budget friendly marketing options in mind for...

So for context, I posted on here several times over 2024 talking about (ideas) I've had for protein-related businesses and how I could best execute them. Those were ideas; now it's a business. I'm building up a clear & healthy protein powder company in the U.S. I have been working with a...

What options could I have for funding my Protein Powder Startup MOQ?

    SCALING
All for the idea of fewer ingredients = better. I know one company that does a great job of explaining its value skew is the protein powder brand NAKED. I have taken inspiration from them definitely.

I'm definitely on board with the pre-order idea. I mentioned it in a comment above just a few minutes ago, but the plan will be to receive the free samples, perfect the formula, sample for free at local gyms, and collect pre-orders or, at the very least, emails to later try and sell on the product.
