100%. Unfortunately, there is a huge difference between someone who likes something and someone who likes someting AND is willing to give you money for your product.Do you think that this approach is correct to test if people would like the app?
At the end of the day, the only way to get a hard proof is to get paid for your product. In the software area, most of the time people reach that kind of proof with an MVP. Doesn't need to be feature reach, but needs to solve a problem big enough in order to get paid for it. After that, you can improve on it based on the customer feedback. At least that's what I'm doing and many others are doing in the software/SaaS area. MJ describes the whole process in Unscripted . I'm not certain anymore but I think it is within Kinetic Execution, the 3As. And there are also a few pages about the soft/hard-proof topic. Definitely worth a (re)read.
