For more than 10 years of my adult life, I've felt paralyzed and stuck. Opportunities for promotions are rare and competition for them high, and it feels like I've little chance of ever coming out the winner. The effort I pour into my job feels like it benefits everyone but me. The extent of my compensation is a naked barter of time for money and an opiate administered by the company called "culture." Every day is yesterday on repeat.
I've had enough. It's time for change.
After reading the The Millionaire Fastlane, I was struck by how MJ was able to put words to the vague feelings I've had about society for as long as I can remember. I was shocked at the occasionally uncanny detail with which he described me, someone he'd never met. What am I, a stereotype? Apparently so... and yet that only lent more credence to his words. Above all, everything he wrote carried the ring of truth.
In a world that offered the freedom of choice, through my choices I had inadvertently volunteered to become a modern day slave. Now it's time to break my chains.
I don't know sales or marketing. I'm now endeavoring to learn and master both. While I do, I'm relying on the things I know, engineering and computers, to take my initial steps. With a focus on synergy and multi-purpose actions, I'm setting a 30 month deadline from today (which it turns out is 2/29/2024; totally unintentional but very cool) to quit my job and launch the best machine learning automation business anyone's ever seen. Look out, tech giants, because here I come!
I'm looking forward to charting this journey and sharing it with all of you, and I'll definitely appreciate and seriously consider any feedback you choose to share with me along the way.
