Sick of paying a premium at supermarkets to not be poisoned
We’ve pretty much eliminated the need for supermarket shopping and it feels great. Just go there for toilet paper really.

We are lucky though we have a great organic market near us every Saturday and our local fruit shop is all organic, and the butcher has a lot of organic meat too.

We also buy our sauces and seasonings online from mingle, not sure if you’ve tried them but you should

I haven't posted on Facebook for ages. I mostly use it to pop in and out of groups occasionally.

The bottom notification is a new one on me.

Since when did people start "following" us? Did I make some change to my personal profile so people follow rather than send friend requests?

Random dumb little video but -really- goes to show the importance of making connections and planting seeds.
The guy's been selling business jets since the 80s, sold off his fast food joints and had to go to eastern europe after the berlin wall fell. Noticed the interest in status symbols of private wealth while out meeting potential investors and started laying down the framework for what would eventually become hundreds of millions of dollars worth of purchases.

I looked in to paramotoring as a super cheap way to fly as a hobby. It is usually billed as super safe, and it probably it is. Yet, experienced paramotor pilots do die, for sometimes unknown reasons. One of the biggest YT paramotor channels (Tucker Gott) reflects on one of his friends (Jeff) dying in a crash. They *think* the wing got damp in a morning mist and collapsed, exacerbated by the pilot and trike being 100lbs over the weight limit. He basically fell out of the sky. I hope one day there is is a super safe way of flying around at low-altitude. Maybe with "hobby flying" and "not crashing" you just have to pick one of the two.

Something about fabric airfoils freaks me out. For sails and such they are great. But, for flying I prefer something that can't fold up and can take several Gs over normal flight.

Going to do my driver's license in August, Poland.
I'll be there for at least 2 weeks and it's gonna be a relatively rural area.. Nature though is gonna be pretty neat there.

Anyways, what should I do over there to pass the time? Will it even be possible to make friends in that little town? I was there last summer and the only people I met my age were 2 stoned teens asking me about my haircut while standing at the side of a busy road with no sidewalk.. My Polish skills also are quite rusty. Just enough to converse and build simple humour into my speech but nowhere near my German or even English skills.

Does anyone know fun or productive things to do in the (Polish) "countryside" (it's not that rural, but still quite small...).
(I'm already taking a piano with me to practise btw)

Perhaps you @Fox or @MTF know something?

I looked into this about 10 years ago as my new passion project, but didn't like the probabilities.

I also looked in to GyroCopters because they are "stall-proof" and super easy to fly, they have similar weird problems. Occasional fatal crashes that nobody can explain.

There is one, it's called lucid dreaming your brain can create the experience of flying around, never managed to fly but my gf did a lot and it was pretty vivid

Safe to say that if your cold email subject line has 2 errors in it right off the get-go, I won't be hiring you, much less even remotely consider your offer.

If you can't pay attention to the details messaging me, you won't pay attention to the details working for me.

That’s one way to think about it. I purposefully make 1 error in my cold emails so that the person receiving it thinks it’s not automated… especially in an email signed “Sent from my iPhone”

Being able to convince the receiver that your email is personalized is always key to getting a response. People don’t like responding to automated messages, it doesn’t trigger reciprocity.

One of my favorite strategies is to send a longer email which can be thought of as automated, and then send a follow-up which is much shorter, quotes the previous email, and seems manual/non-automated through different devices including spelling errors, “Sent from my iPhone” and so on.

I think you guys will enjoy this video.

It's a short 1967 documentary by McGraw Hill(LOL). It's called "The Futurists".

For those of you who don't know. A "Futurist" is someone who analyzes current trends and makes predictions about how the future will unfold.

Pretty funny seeing what was actually correct and what wasn't. Notice how much smarter people were back then!

"A panel of experts has studied a list of possible 21st century developments, from personality controlled drugs to household robots. They have estimated the numerical probability of each, from zero to 100 percent. The twenty sided dice are then rolled to simulate these probabilities. A use of random numbers known as the Monte Carlo technique, often used in thinktank games. All of this is highly speculative."

Saw someone mention tattoos being part of the "uniform" now. I don't disagree... Seems like everyone everywhere is covered in colorful ink. Last time I got a tattoo, it was expensive. Are head shops accepting credit now?!

The novelty of tattoos is gone. Everyone is marked to show off their uniqueness and, ironically, everyone just blends into the mix of colors.

Especially in today's day and age, there is no excuse for grammatical or spelling errors.

Every device out there has spellcheck and there’s free AI to doublecheck readability.

Young people, don’t dismiss this as “grammar nazi” stuff. This is the real world. Mistakes cost money. Carelessness is just as bad as stupidity.

I'm very anti-tattoo.

The amount of shitty tattoos I've seen over the last few weeks is crazy.

I particularly can't understand young attractive women with shitty tattoos. What a way to waste your beauty.

Not sure if it was a bug or if it's still happening, but I didn't like that Facebook friends could see posts and comments of mine from closed, private Facebook groups. It was coming up in their timeline, and I could see it from others showing on mine as well. It was just do so with the industry my business was in, but it still felt weird.

Pretty much stopped me from engaging and using Facebook at all now, so yeah, good work Zuck.

I wonder what is general opinion here on using "funny" in your marketing efforts.
I think it benefits you in a few ways: gives the more personal experience, makes you unique, differentiates you from competitors, makes you memorable, makes people eager to engage...
Me as example: I use this persona called Zły Monsta (Mean Monster) - from outer space of course. See the "insect" in my avatar for reference.
There's a whole story behind this creature. He's mean, but also hilarious, also very demanding and hostile towards human race. I've developed a custom language, that I use for my communication. It's modified polish, but still easily understandable by people and funny as well. People often even play along, picking up the game and replying similarly. Makes them engage and feel creative.
Zły monsta doesn't charge you PLN (Polish Złoty) - he charges CSD (Cosmodollars)!

I've been in general graphic design as my side gig for probably 15 years now. On regular basis, I keep getting recurring customers, who bought a product from me years ago (9 years ago was the record last week), now they want another, found me again and don't even ask for price just want to order asap. So I think this way of engagement makes you rather memorable, which is good for business.

What are your thoughts? Do you use it, or plan on using it?

Also: check out this guy. He plugs his sponsor so effortlessly, that he needed to add a caption saying his plug is a real product, lol. You aren't even mad at him for plugging the sponsor.
He's persona is SKY CORP :)
