Which AI chatbot or LLM do you recommend that can be installed locally on a MacBook and offers decent performance? I need one as a consultant to use during power outages or cyberattacks as a backup.

I use the LM studio desktop application.

You can manage the models entirely in the program so trying different models becomes easy.

You can download different models and load whichever one you want out of a dropdown menu for your next chat.

Meta's llama models run surprisingly well.

Some models you can load entirely on the GPU. If you have enough VRAM some of them can run insanely fast.
