    MINDSET QUESTION
This gave me something to think about. Thanks for finding it.

Stick or Twist? - $132K in Revenue for 5000 hours

    MINDSET QUESTION
I appreciate the enthusiasm, but I think my mind is made up. PC gaming is not for me, the opportunity cost of pursuing it over something else doesn't make anymore, especially with the leverage of AI in other coding verticals.

Stick or Twist? - $132K in Revenue for 5000 hours

    MINDSET QUESTION
Yeah, I made up my mind, it's time for a pivot. No matter how hard you row, if the boat sucks, you won't go anywhere. Appreciate you following along.

Stick or Twist? - $132K in Revenue for 5000 hours

    MINDSET QUESTION
I came here to discuss business models, not for someone to tell me "I make $25/h because I'm not efficient enough".

Launching a $60K Video Game in 4 Months

    EXECUTION
I guess I don't consider crosswords or number games as inherently good or that they help people. It's probably a subjective definition on my part, though. How do we measure good or bad? My thought process was that taking people away from the real world with something addictive is bad. Maybe I...

Stick or Twist? - $132K in Revenue for 5000 hours

    MINDSET QUESTION
I probably should take some time away to think. I'm not very good at taking a break from things.

Stick or Twist? - $132K in Revenue for 5000 hours

    MINDSET QUESTION
Yeah, I don't think the need for PC games is big enough anymore, as evidenced by the shrinking market and the unwillingness to pay more. Also could be the fact that we just hit a big boom before. Either way, I don't think it's worth my time anymore.

Stick or Twist? - $132K in Revenue for 5000 hours

    MINDSET QUESTION
This is good advice, I'll do some thinking.

Stick or Twist? - $132K in Revenue for 5000 hours

    MINDSET QUESTION
AI isn't hitting the game industry the same way it's hitting web and mobile. There is no democratized AI agent for building games. Game devs despise AI with every ounce of their woke bodies, so we're still a few years away from it hitting. There is rough support in IDEs but it's not very good...

Stick or Twist? - $132K in Revenue for 5000 hours

    MINDSET QUESTION
I never said people can't be successful in PC video games OR in writing books. I'm making the case that they aren't very good business models and that something else will yield better results per unit of time put into them. I don't think MJ would say his book business is a better business...

Stick or Twist? - $132K in Revenue for 5000 hours

    MINDSET QUESTION
No, 6.5 years was just a hobby, making small games for the hell of it. Maybe 3000 hours of learning for those years. 100 hour work weeks just leading up to the early access launch, the typical week was 60-70. The codebase is 100,000+ lines, 1000+ art assets by hand, 200+ sound effects, custom...

Stick or Twist? - $132K in Revenue for 5000 hours

    MINDSET QUESTION
First of all, he asked what I wanted in 3-5+ years, and I replied. Second of all. That's the whole point of this post... If I should pump another 5000 hours into giving people video games, which from the data above doesn't seem like they want to pay much money for in a shrinking market OR...

Stick or Twist? - $132K in Revenue for 5000 hours

    MINDSET QUESTION
I don't think anyone would argue that just writing books is a good business model either... Unless we're talking about pumping out Amazon KDP slop. It's not as simple as deciding to build a game with MRR. You play by the rules that Steam lays out. They have the monopoly for PC games. My plan to...

Stick or Twist? - $132K in Revenue for 5000 hours

    MINDSET QUESTION
I want to build a business with asymmetrical returns and enterprise value that doesn't suck my soul. I want to own a Porsche 911 and help my parents retire. Maybe that takes 3 years, maybe it takes 10. Once those are done, I can die without regrets.

Launching a $60K Video Game in 4 Months

    EXECUTION
The most successful video games are inherently addicting and suck you in for hours or get you to pay big $$$ in micro transactions. I don't know of anyone who's done that successfully; a video game that helps people would likely make no money. At the end of the day, I still need to put food on...
