Title is clickbait. Instead, I'm seeking life changing career advice from strangers on the internet.
I think I've been dumb. I've gone back to school for accounting. They say accounting is a stable career yet there's a long line of unemployed or underemployed accountants fighting for scraps on LinkedIn. I like studying accounting. It is dirt cheap at community college. I've started marketing myself on social media, and there's so many people desperate for any type of lead online.
But I have a goal of opening up a sober living. I'm about a quarter of the way to starting one up.
Option A) Stick with accounting. See if I can fish for bookkeeping work to defray the costs. Hope that this leads to work.
Option B) Grind out 60 - 80/hr weeks in slowlane jobs and eat beans and rice so that I can get the capital required to make the business a reality. Rehabs are desperate for behavioral health techs (my role), and I heard back from 2/3 of the places that I applied. I could probably send an email and get a full work week if I wanted to in a couple days.
To be honest, I'm learning towards option B. Let's see what internet strangers think about my plan.
