Hey everyone!
I'd like to begin by saying how much I value this community, and the ideas it brings - it is absolutely a goldmine.
As for me - I'm 24, at the moment finishing my undergrad in CS (I've served in the military in previous years, hence the age).
I have the entrepreneurial spirit burning inside of me, I read a lot, and I educate myself constantly about market needs, and other business related ideas.
I've tried a few failed ventures in the past - but haven't gotten very far with either - not sure if I quit too early, or just at the right time.
I have never actually developed a full MVP / RAT and have tested the market, have mostly done "outside" research, rather than "inside" / "wet" research.
At the moment, I'm working on developing new technology for the biotech industry, as a part of my job as a researcher at my university.
We will provide the results of said technology to a company who's sponsoring our research, and our contract states, that if the technology is deemed successful - a long term collaboration would be formed.
My partner and I estimate the chances of success as high.
I am facing multiple options for my life's course - and I have to choose where I'm headed after graduation:
1. Take the technology, set up an LLC and provide it as services to multiple companies
2. Go and work for our sponsor - because that would allow me to relocate into a nurturing environment where my network would grow (and so will my options), and to become more experienced managing something bigger, and probably very meaningful.
3. Earn higher education - A PhD in Genomics / CS (Could also be combined with option 1 / option 2)
4. Go work for a software company
5. Gamble on everything, and somehow go full Fastlane (Problem is, I believe that it is safer to make the transition, while earning money so you can still take care of yourself)
What would you guys do if you were in my position?
Cheers
