Bonjour my dear compatriotes.
I really want to do an intro that is not too long, too boring and not making you feel you are losing your time because hey… we all learned that Time is our biggest asset; the most valuable ressource on earth so… as a new INSIDERS I’ll try to keep it entertaining as I can’t promise I can keep it short. I am french afterall. French people talk way too much.
I’m Sophie 36yo mom of 2 girls living in Indiana in a nice neighborhood, in a nice money-pit house, with nice cats (though one is butthole), 3 chickens and 2 goldfish. I don’t have nice cars. I like my sh*tholes cars so much though. Stress free. But I love speed. Like real speed. So one my secret dream is in a real nice sport car on a race track. Even as a copilot im cool
I was born and raised in France. Dad was a blue collar in a factory and still is after his 36th years on the production line. Mom was a secretary who passed away from cancer 3 days before her 1st day of retirement. Yeah talk about a nice long life dreamt retirement …
My dad made me work in the candy factory as soon as he could. Therefore I spent all my weekends, holidays and no-school days lifting boxes, moving pallets, handling forklifts to save some money but also, and especially, to learn by suffering that I must be first in school to … get a good job, go up the ladder, make a good salary to… buy a nice house with nice cats and have nice kids that go to nice schools so we can repeat the cycle of mediocrity. I am glad for what my dad did though. And for the dreams he had for me. He made me who I am today. So thank you daddy for kicking my a$$!
My english level during my master degree was mediocre in 2011. I always wanted to work Internationally and escape the French system so I had to become bilingual. No excuses. I randomly applied to the Fulbright Program to be a French teaching assistant. I told Fulbright I wanted to be placed in the middle of F nowhere: « no french people around me please » to force me to become bilingual speed of light. They listened. I got accepted and placed in Wabash College Crawfordsville Indiana: THE dream destination. I met hubby there then the rest is history.
French expat now American, I started my first job in logistics as a coordinator. 13 years later, I more-than-tripled my salary, became an SME in my industry, worked for multiple multi billions dollars companies and went up the ladder at a pretty good pace. I gave everything I had to be where I am, thinking that each step up the ladder of American Corporation is a dream becoming reality, making daddy proud of me.
Then … I listened to The Fast Lane Millionaire, read Unscripted and almost all the other books in the line.
And holy crap.
I took a real good slap.
**SLAP** « Wake up b*tch »
I woke up and here I am.
There is no coming back.
I know there is so much more I could do. I am just so tired on working on someone’s else dream. I am tired of not spending much time with my kids. I love working. I love creating and, most of all, I absolutely love the feeling of MY customers’ satisfaction. I know I would have no issue working 80h on something I am building vs 40h putting money in someone’s else pocket…
I read all the books and keep reading them everyday as for me, those are more than books. They are Bibles. Bibles that remind you everyday that we have so much potential. Books that remind us everyday of what it is to live an extraordinary life. On how not to be victims, entitled lazy butts sloths. On how to take destiny into your hands and start living your dreams vs dreaming your life.
But even if I am boiling of motivation and excitement inside, I feel stuck. The thing is, I do have the energy, I do have the motivation, I know I have what it takes to make anything happen but, like a lot of people I guess, I don’t have THE idea, the Eureka and it’s driving me nuts. I tried different things that failed. I am not giving up. I don’t mind to fail. Again I like learning « by suffering » but I still have not found THE thing that will take me to F*ck YOU Money.
On a professional side, I am seen as a really good leader, good negotiator. I love process and continuous improvement and most of all, I love the people. I love the relationships, the networking, I freaking love negotiations. I understand sales and marketing but I know I have lot improvements especially finance and accounting areas.
So I thought to be able to find my Eureka the idea, THE THING I just need to get more educated. To get and gain more knowledge and insights of greater minds. I love surrounding myself with people smarter than me, full of energy. So that is why I am here.
Merci Monsieur Demarco for waking me up. Now I feel like garbage every morning waking up to the sound of the alarm clock but I am so glad I do feel that way because it is a push toward a better future.
I hope to be a great Fast Lane Student. I have so much to learn and I truly hope I can get to connect with this wonderful community!
I am excited to post more about my current career, my current failing LLC (which I opened to learn how to manage first place anyway) and some other small start ideas I have on the side.
Thank you for reading me! Hope you did not feel you could get 10min of your life back. If yes, send me a message I will certainly see what I can do 😀
Sincerely,
Sophie.
Ps: Han Han Han - I just had to.
