A new business idea inspired by MJ DeMarco

Hi guys,

I am new to this forum and I just finished reading The Millionaire's fast lane and I came up with an idea that I would like to develop in my country and it is a website where people can rent other people's private vehicles, bicycles or motorcycles. Also offer rental service of vans or limos as well as MJ did with Limos, in fact, I felt inspired by this idea and I realized that in my country Colombia, there are no pages like this, the idea also came to my mind because I set my mind to listen and two friends asked me last week where they could rent a vehicle for a day.

I would like to get some advice or feedback on getting started.

I would like to get some advice or feedback on getting started.

A great idea in Columbia is a bad idea in the US. And vice versa.

If you're looking for advice on the idea, you need to be focused on your market in Columbia. I have no idea if this is a great or a bad idea because I do not know your culture or country.

A lot of ideas that work in the US can be delivered to other countries, usually a few years later. 20 years later? Not so sure...

For motor vehicles there are commercial companies doing it professionally.

Bicycles ride sharing has been tried in my country and elsewhere it didn’t end well. Too many bikes being misplaced and not well taken care of.

The usage frequency, and rental fee don’t even cover the cost.

The above were companies buying vehicles in bulk and renting them out.

If you were to start an airbnb for vehicles. I would imagine to be a logistic nightmare that don’t justify the cost of operation.

Professional car rental companies have people recording and monitoring the conditions of the car before and after. Getting to details on the number of scratches.

It’s not efficient to have a car alternate between using and renting mode, due to the complexity of the logistic and monitoring.

But I could be very wrong. As I just checked there are people doing it in my country.
