Ok, have you ever had that feeling that you were on a sinking ship and no matter how much water you push out (money you gain) more water just kept coming in to match it (debts). Well, personally I noticed that I would always adjust my motivation to suit my money, and that this was the major reason I couldn't really save.
To adjust this problem what you need to do is to focus on the motivation you have to do projects rather than the money that "just came in". Don't look at your money until you are in awe of it, just go "hmm, ok, covers expences, now how much more focus can I put into what tasks need to be done?".
Don't focus on the cash you have, focus on the motivation you can "keep ready" for the projects you are gunning for. Detatch yourself from your bank balance (only checking if it meets base requirements) and then spend your time and effort managing your motivation.
If you manage your bank balance, it will always approximate your own need for validation (and be a sink hole), so make sure that the very FIRST thing you do is to manage your motivations seperately and distinctly from your bank balance.
Make your motivations snowball, and let GO of the bank.
