My name is Jordan Merrick and I have had 3 brain surgeries and I got those surgeries because I have a seizure disease known as Rasmussen's Syndrome. It's much different than other seizure diseases and it's very rare that I will actually have a seizure and it sucks when I do. But other than the rare chance (maybe once every 2 or 3 years) that I have a seizure, instead of that holding me back it's the auras that I feel. An aura for my disease is a bunch of little mini seizure diseases all happening at once. At that point, I can't talk regularly or think correctly for about the 20 or 30 seconds that it goes on for. Thankfully, it only lasts that long and the fact that I can go 3 or 4 weeks without even being bothered by auras is a huge improvement of how medicine has been able to help me. If you are wondering what happens after those 3 or 4 weeks it is a week that sucks with me having easily over 100 auras throughout a week. So it's 3 or 4 weeks of me being completely well (besides the side effects of my medication, which aren't a big deal) and then a week of me barely being able to work at certain points during those days.
I have an incredible amount of leadership, persuasion and determination in my life. Going through that week takes motivation and willpower to get through each and every one of those days. If I were to tell you that I had set a record than you probably wouldn’t believe me. Now all that I have to do is tell you that I set that record when I was in the hospital and it was by how long that I needed to stay in there. I have almost died 3 times from 3 completely situations and I’m still here. I’m here for a reason, and I am here to help out others. God could have taken me 3 different times, but saved me during each and every one of those times. The reason for me telling you this is not to impress you or show you that I can endure hardships, it’s to tell you that I’m here for a reason and I believe that reason is to help out others.
While I may know how to start a business and how to lead others, what I have been getting at is that I’m not sure if I can do this alone or not. It’s pretty hard to have 40-80 hour weeks of work when you are working your hardest to maintain your focus to get through each day. How do I get through this hardship? How do I overcome this obstacle and take this on as a challenge?
