Hi everyone.
First-time post, but long time lurker of the forum, feel free to move this post if it's not in the right area.
I'm looking for some advice, I currently work at a digital marketing agency full-time, and over the past couple of months, I've had the urge to start my own agency.
The reason I want to start my own agency is I like what I do but I'm getting frustrated at how the agency I work for does things and having to constantly bite my tongue.
My question is, how do I make the transition from working full-time at an agency to starting my own? Ideally, I'm looking for answers from members of the forum who have been in the same position as me and have successfully made the transition.
Options I have thought about.
1. Should I try and get clients first before quitting? And if so how would I do that? When I can't prospect during business hours. Is there a way around this? It's also work mentioning that there is a non-compete agreement in my contract, so I have to be careful.
2. Quit when I have a year worth of savings, giving myself 12 months to swim or sink. Ideally, I would prefer option one, but don't know how to make it work when I can't prospect for business during business hours.
Any guidance is much appreciated, ideally I'm looking for answers from members who have been in the same situation.
Thanks,
Jay
