Hi everyone,
I'm quite interested in getting involved in sales. I'm very social and develop rapport with people quickly. That said, I don't have any "real" sales experience (i.e., commission-based sales experience).
Here's some information:
• I'm 40
• I work full-time as a Junior Accountant
• Salary: $50,000
• I have a mortgage
• I work at a training company, where we sell our training services (negotiation programs) to all kinds of clients (Nike, Bausch & Lomb, Ralphs Supermarket, Virgin etc.). The selling-point for these training services range between $2,500 to $300,000 + with an average close of $20,000. The high majority of closes at our company are completed face-to-face.
• Lastly, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our families, it's very important to me, and I know it's very easy to get caught up in making money, and I want to preserve substantial time for our relationship. In other words, I don't want to be spending all my evenings and weekends working. That said, I am willing to work during the nights and on weekends at a reasonable level.
Two questions:
1. With all of the information you know, can I successfully make more money doing a sales job, and should I try selling the training my company offers?
2. Can I learn to become a salesman, while working full-time as a Junior Accountant?
Thanks for reading, it's very appreciated.
