This is my first post to this vibrant community. I read the Fastlane book and got very inspired. I`m determined to make it happen for me.
Currently I`m doing market research into the Coaching niche, for Australia (where I live). Looking to understand the painpoints of both Life Coaches and Business Coaches. Have done some hours of online research and interviewed a few coaches. Based on the unfulfilled needs I discovered, I see two opportunities for businesses: either
(a) Create an online directory (where I put my time and effort to make it rank well for good keywords + provide excellent service to users and clients). I monetize it by having tiered monthly subscriptions and also banner ads or homepage features. Additionaly, as I move to other media (apps, digital magazine, podcasts), I can offer these services for the higher-tier members, or sell them separately.
(b) Provide digital marketing services for Coaches, such as: setting up and ranking a personal website, setting up social media presence, publish and advertise their ebooks, develop custom apps, etc.
Option "b" sounds much more work, and less "passive". I`m not sure how scalable it is either.
I can currently devote around 15hours of work per week to my business (since I`m on a full time job and married), and have a part time VA (20hours week) that can help me out.
Any thoughts?
