Hello guys,
Im a 19 year old that wants to be the owner of my own business and never work for anyone, im inspired by MJ book and many other threads found on this forum, however i have this mentality since i was like 17 or so (im young i know).
Ok so basically guys i need help from your expertise and experience,we have some american channels on my tv and i saw a commercial for a website called Home Advisor, basically this website allows you to contact local contractors that can help you with your home's problems, like plumbers or maybe fixing a door or installing ac conditioner. Anyways that service is a hit on the US, in my country theres NOTHING like that, zero. So i would have nearly zero competition when starting this. Now i dont attribute this idea to me completely, because my dad was always complaining that he never knew who to contact when the refrigerator stops working or he needs to clean the windows, etc.
So guys i dont really know where to start, i told my dad it would be easier if we start small, ideally with an ios app since these days thats the easiest way to reach people and the fastest way. But ofcourse i have no idea what to implement on the app or what to list in there.
I was taking a look at homeadvisor and they make money via leads, basically everytime they refer a customer to a contractor or a company they get some money, so that would be my business model. I have already signed up on freelancer.com to checkout the pricing on creating a mobile app for ios. Its expensive tho, (1250$+) so yeah, i dont even have a job right now, im going to college in fall so theres a lot going on through my mind.
Now tomorrow i will go meet with my dad's friend that he knows contractors and companies that fix and repair home problems like the ones i stated above, so thats a plus, i plan to contact them and offer them my service initially for free since im starting and theres nothing like this on my country, ofcourse once things get growing i would start charging for leads.
Im saying free because i think that's the best way to get more companies in the start, idk what you guys think about this approach.
But i dont really know what to implement in my app, i downloaded homeadvisors app and it seems so complicated and really informative, it has tons of features and stuff so i wouldnt really know what to tell my freelancers to implement in my app.
My initial idea would be to just put some general categories and for example you tap on plumbers, and you get a list of companies that do that work, but i think this is vague and people wouldnt be really interested, it would be good if i could some rates directly from the companies and list them on my app so people get a general idea of the work and how much is gonna cost to them. Im writing this as the ideas are flowing through my mind so sorry if its messy and you dont understand much ahaha.
Oh also i would ofcourse include review section for all the companies so people know which are the best and they can decide for themselves which one to buy from. But idk if i should put just the companies or maybe the employees that work there. However i think that could cause some trouble because people could contract them behind the companies back and make some money for them, so yeah i dont think thats a good idea. So i think i would go with just listing the companies name and logo and maybe a section for reviews and the estimated cost
What else.....OH so yeah ofcourse in the future i would love to implement individual contractors or people that just work on their free time as individuals but i would need a background check on them like criminal records and stuff to avoid any problems with the clients.
So my companie would be very client centric because i believe if you have a great customer service the sales will always be there for you, and you will always have loyal people that trust you and buy from you. Oh i just got another idea, idk if i should offer refunds or maybe redo's to people that make bad work or maybe messup things, but thats up to me.
So yeah guys thanks for reading this long a$$ thread, i just wrote everything i plan on doing and well i wish you all entrepeneurs the best of luck!
please reply on what you think, and any ideas are welcome!
