I nearly got in a street fight today.
I was bringing my family to the park and as we were parking my car I noticed a man kicking the mirror of a police car. I know the area and I know that right beside him is a police station (hence the police car), so I figured the cops would come out shortly.
But nothing happened and I just watched him from across the street for a few minutes as he walked down around the station and around the corner. I weighed up going into the station... but figured it wasn't worth the drama.
Then as we crossed the street to go to the park, I noticed this same man had kicked the mirrors of around 5 other cars. But not police cars - just ordinary peoples cars. And I can't stand this type of BS - a few losers that make life miserable for everyone.
So by now a few people are coming back to their cars and noticing they are all trashed. So I weigh up moving my car and look back and see this same man is now coming back up the opposite side of the street.
So, I decide that is it - if this guy goes near any car I am stepping in.
Which he does - he goes back to the original cop car that I saw him damage to now kick off the other mirror.
"HEY - TOUCH ONE MORE CAR AND I WILL SMASH YOUR FACE"
I absolutely roar this at him as I walk towards him straight on. I felt whatever - you either are willing to fight people like this or they will just go around making everyones life hell.
So, my wife who is holding our kid, is like "you sure?" and I just told her to not come near whatever happens.
By now this guy is trying to gauge what to do and starts squaring up to fight. So I walk closer and roar that if he does anything he is about to get his nose broken in bits. And half of this is a bluff - to just stop him trashing everyones car. But also I mentally lock in that if it needs to happen I will just fight this guy for being such an a**hole.
Anyway the cops ended up coming out and he got arrested.
Kinda long story but I feel you either step in with stuff like this - or whats the point of being a man.
And ya, don't go around getting involved in every bit of drama, but Id rather have lost that fight than to have walked away and do nothing.
I do need to be careful though. Cause I feel this "justice" rage sometimes and it can definitely lead to trouble.
----
Edit: It is actually something something I struggle with a bit sometimes.
- You could argue that this is reckless and I could end up getting stabbed over a car mirror in front of my family
- But at the same time, if you stand for nothing and let people do this, then what is the point of being able to do anything if you fail to act
Not sure how others gauge this, but it is something that stays on my mind for a bit after these things.
