I was reminded of this the other night when I was reading another topic on the forum so I thought I would share.
A few years ago I was into Adsense sites based on EMD's. I made some pretty good money but decided I wanted to create a few websites that were more stable. I came up with something I thought would get some decent traffic and had the ability to take off with social media sharing. Long story short I had the website ready to launch and needed to get traffic to it.
There was a popular music show on TV I was watching and a popular guy on the show was kicked off. I immediately went and posted on my website about it and posted the links on the TV shows FB page. BTW - This was a great way to drive traffic to a topic on your website. Anyways, I got over 10,000 hits and 300 comments/posts in under 24 hours. I had people arguing on why the guy should have stayed, and many were pissed off at the show judge.
Man, all this traffic to my newly launched website that has the people doing exactly what the website was intended for. So, what's the big deal right? Well, let's just say that instead of making the post and directing traffic to my newly launched website, I had posted it on a laundry detergent review site of mine......Grr
Didn't realize it for a few hours, but by then it was too late... I still had the best month in Adsense for the site, but who knows what could've been for the other website I launched....lol
