Amazon PPC Question

Finally got my product on Amazon FBA and started running traffic to it using PPC. But I'm a little confused about something.

In addition to the PPC in my FBA account, I also discovered something called Amazon Marketing Services, which seems completely different from what I'm doing now because they allow you to create banner ads and headlines. Amazon Marketing Services (AMS) - Advertise at Amazon

For the people who are having success with Amazon ads - should I be using the Amazon Marketing Services?

It seems strange that Amazon has two different paid marketing systems in their platform. Maybe I'm missing something here?
