Sup.
I just caught this thread: https://www.thefastlaneforum.com/co...our-one-thing-that-you-are-doing-today.50798/
Something caught my eye.
It wasn't the free book David was giving away.
What stood out to me in this thread happens all the time, and I don't hear anyone mention this subject. So, maybe it's interesting, maybe it's not, but maybe it'll help you think of something in a new way that'll give you an idea for a profitable project to start.
What stands out to me from this book is, how INSANELY easy it is for people to fill gaps in markets. This concept of this book has been talked about a lot of times before. I think it's a great subject that most people don't get right.(I never did at all until the last couple years) However, the guy making this book is taking what is already talked about, already popular for people who do it, then just packaging it up into a "product"(in this case a book), since no one else has yet.
That may seem like an obvious way to make money, but it's not obvious enough because there's still a TON of subjects like this that aren't mainstream yet, and a bunch of people saying they can't think of a need to fill. Don't get me wrong, I'm not telling people to go write books. Most people shouldn't.
However, it's a good niche to think about how people are filling gaps.
The book industry is very interesting for this.
Good lesson for entrepreneurs who say it's hard to find ideas:
A lot of the "thought leaders" are often not the actual thought leader(no idea if the guy who wrote this book was or not), but they're just very good at packaging up ideas and/or marketing them in a way no one has yet.
Look at Tim Ferriss. No one had talked about lifestyle entrepreneurship on a big level before, so he packaged up a lot of the best ideas around the subject, and is an insanely good marketer. He found something that obviously many people knew how to do, but the mass market didn't yet. He educated them, so he makes the money on that subject.
The larger the idea, the larger the potential profit. 4hww was huge, this book fills a much, much smaller gap, but still fills a 'not marketed to the masses' gap that exists.
Even though it has technically been marketed to the masses(I read a lot of books and have seen this concept many times before), no one had taken that specific idea and turned that ONE idea into it's own product/brand, and because of that, the person who does that becomes known as the "thought leader" on the subject, and makes the money on the subject.
I've been up since 5am so I don't know if the way I explained it makes sense as to how easy it is to fill a gap in that market, and if you think about it you apply it the same way to service businesses, product businesses, etc...
If this is interesting to people maybe I'll help give some examples not in the book industry.
