Hello, fellow fastlaners,
I am putting up this progress thread for these basic reasons:
1. I am using it as a means to keep myself committed
2. to save myself from "action faking" (meaning it will help me to keep swinging and stop reading/waiting for all lights to go green)
3. It will keep me sane from drifting.
4. I have to prove to myself in a respectable manner and to show appreciation from the knowledge gained from guys here
I have no guarantee if this formula will work as proposed but I am very optimistic. But if it doesn't, I will end up learning a ton of useful things that will help me do better which means either way I won't lose both ends of the coin.
A brief background about me (I still haven't done an introduction, I think). I have been around the forum for a while, scratching for knowledge from several big guns here and I appreciate this because I have had a major mindset shift especially after reading threads like The Amazing Secret by @IceCreamKid and several others from several big guns here.
I have posted some stupid stuffs around especially when I first joined this forum and I thank God I am still around so as to cure myself of the wantrepreneur disease from plaguing me forever and knowing what real action feels like...
I don't want to be perfect and I am not afraid of making mistakes because I always seem to learn from them. a lot!
That aside.
Here's something interesting about the action steps I will be discussing below:
1. Most people have used similar steps to build businesses (as I intend to) and other forms of businesses. I have chosen the SAAS model because I have no capital whatsoever to build it up but I believe I can, if I follow through (I simply have no other choice tho). This doesn't mean traditional businesses are not good.
2. I didn't develop the basic concept behind the formula but I am pretty good at adding a twist to things so I tweaked it all to benefit me and others who might be in the same situation too (i.e, people who aren't from the US and who don't have any money for business development)
Without further discussion, here's it:
Step 1: CHOOSE A MARKET: I intend to choose a very competitive Industry that has repeated customers and/or have top performance in my country of stay and also in the US
Step2: Find out the top performers (bloggers, suppliers, professionals, businesses etc) that has anything to do with this market both locally and internationally. AND follow them on social media, read their blogs (basically getting acquainted to them)
STEP3: MARKET RESEARCH: I intend to know how the market really work in and out and I do not want to jump into any market without really studying them to find "what they do", "how they do it" and "why they do it". This looks like a long process but I think it's gonna worth it
STEP4: After understanding this market. I would at this point have a basic understanding of what they are into, how they work and a "prior" understanding of what they need
NB: I won't be using this basic understanding of what they need to create a product for them. not in hell! What I intend to do is...
STEP5: Find something of easily digestible value I can create from this knowledge and offer it as a "warm-up" offer to local top performers. why? I do not intend to go cold because anybody can go cold on them and I think going cold won't place me as someone who really knows what he is talking about and wont even have a slight basic idea of what their interests and desires are...nah! I want to warm them up with something that will (or might) place me as an expert or someone with know-how in this field.
STEP6: After developing my "warm-up" offer. I'd send out real letters directly to the top performers locally and not emails. why? with Letters, they will perceive me as someone serious, again "anyone" can send them an email and I know these people or people generally almost always don't take email's serious as letters.
STEP7: Here I will put up a phone call to them not just because other people have said so before but because I have something to say and I know what I am saying can be of help to them. I could start the idea extraction process or arrange for a meeting with them.
STEP8: What I intend to do here is: after finding an ideal solution to the problem I will send emails to the "top foreign performers" (those I have been able to build a good rapport with over time) and ask them if they too are having this same problem. I am using this step to see if this idea is scalable and it will help me not to build what the entire market doesn't need
It doesn't end here, I think not...there is still more
STEP9: After digging into their hearts and problems, I intend to design a mockup and have them test it. if it does work, then I will pre-sell them on the ideal solution locally as a means to validate the idea via a Letter to local top performers (not email) and if that works I will do likewise with foreign market
performers I have so far built a relationship with (this time, they'll know I have their interest at heart, I have provided them with something to test, kept communicating with them and I've able to build some trust). And offer them what I think is a good deal.
STEP10: Here I will put up another call to them generally for necessary details and documents
STEP10: Start Building up an MVP
Now, what i intend to say again is, any of these steps might not work as proposed. But whatever happens, I will try my very best and learn from it then rinse and repeat. I think this is a process and I intend to follow it down. why?
I have no money, no network and no idea. I don't see this as a stumbling block but a blessing in disguise to help me gain all of them without spending a dime, apart from the time which I think won't be wasted because i will learn greatly from doing this and know what real action feels like.
This forum has changed a lot in me lately, not bitching but it's true. I feel like a man after going against some crazy odds which I never thought I could be able to pull. I have also took some actions in "circles" that lead me nowhere. (story for another day)
The point is not every action is good action, some just won't take you towards your main goal, you have to rinse and repeat and I feel these outlined steps are only a product of the actions I have been taking on lately.
Please, I will be posting my progress along the way and I will need your constructive criticism and thoughts because I know most of you have gone through similar situations (or steps). Any perspective is good to this open progress as I walk through this adventurous journey...Thanks
Respect
