Hi my name is Chris and I was referred to your site from a person on another forum after a discussion on a thread. I am a college graduate with a bachelors in mechanical engineering and a minor in engineering management. I am one year out of school and have always been a good student. From my perspective, I have always been instilled with the idea that being a good student, going to college, getting a good, stable job, and raising a family as being successful. At the moment, I do have a good, stable, decent paying job, but the problem is, I view the idea of having a good, stable job as being like everyone else I know. I graduated with an engineering degree and I don't think I even want to stick to engineering at this point, but I will admit that it gave me great insight on how to think and analyze problems. It actually took someone else to take a look at my situation and realize that I can be successful if I want to take advantage of the opportunities rather than waiting for the right one to fall into my lap. Simple, yet for some reason I never thought of it that way. I always thought of starting my own company or making it big somehow but honestly, I had no idea where to start. I don't know if I want to even create an engineering company or to branch out and try something else. Everyone in my family has a stable job and my parents work extremely hard for what I am lucky to have and I appreciate all their efforts. I just strive for something more, something where I won't be considered just like everyone else. After browsing around for a few days, I feel like this is a great place to learn and get advice and am glad I joined up. I have a ton of interests and things I have a passion for, but I don't know how or if I can turn it into something great. I'm one of those guys that wants to be successful at an early age, I don't want to wait to enjoy the fruits of my labor. Being new to the forum, I would just ask if someone could help point me in the right direction. I feel like I have all this potential to do great things, but I don't know how to capitalize on it. Thanks. :smx9:
