and now it's crunch time, it's ironic that I post this while I am at work, but one of my longterm goals on my 25th birthday is to be self-employed this time next year. It is an uphill climb at the moment as I have plenty of fixed expenses and debts that I must sort out before taking such a step, but I know if I don't take this step soon I will end up stuck in my comfort zones. In fact when I was researching the company I work for it said that their goal is to guide you along for the first 6 months before putting any major sales goals and then if you can stay on from 6mo-2yrs then they have you for life, which I know is supposed to mean that you have earned "tenure", but I see it as "they own you" and just trying to figure out what to do with my 2 weeks of vacation reminds me of how much I miss self-employment and the freedom to go where I want, when I want, which is still not a simple task and might even take a few years on my own, but as was my intention with buying a house versus renting, I'd much rather own my future than somebody else own it for me.
In order to reach this goal I understand that there are many small goals in the short-term such as researching, narrowing in on and ultimately working on a specific field whether it's e-Biz, Real-Estate or a Business System/Starting a Franchise. Some of the steps I am taking outside of reading/posting here are reading books, participating in the conference call from REIpro, attending the B&P gathering in Feb/Mar, started writing a personal constitution w/ my fiance based off the one on Lyved and trying to get a local fastlane meetup group to discuss strategy and possible ideas.
On top of this I have a few possible mentors including a friend who has his own graphic design company and owns 5 SFR's or my uncle who also owns a graphic design company with other interests and I'm also interested in learning about the fastlane mentoring at B&P.
Finally I took the first step in sitting down with my fiance and reading a few threads on here with the goal of getting her turned on to the fastlane and doing activities such as Russ's Create Your Plan or atleast being my #1 supporter on this journey as she is happy with her career and is getting valuable experience working directly under the owner of the architecture firm she's at as opposed to being under a large chain of hierarchy at a large firm with a goal of one-day making partner. In fact the construction company they work with was started by three brothers, the oldest of which is in his mid 30's now :coolgleamA:
