For one I don't think paid advertising works as well as one would think. In my experience, especially web based ads, Google jacks up the bids per click using bots and you end up paying a fortune for dubious results.
As for Facebook, I think they just got sued over fraudulent metrics, and besides it's the worst place to advertise, since people go there to message others and to waste time and are not in a receptive state of mind for advertising.
Plus apparently in the EU precise targeting by specific criteria has been crippled by the GDPR. And for me it's also a matter of budget. It would be unwise to act like I'm a huge corporation which can afford to do "mass-boming" advertising since it can afford to spend millions. I really can't.
For one I've thought about joining vouchers and price comparison sites. That should also help by getting me links.
Luckily I can compete on price since my supplier gives me quite competitive prices, unlike the previous idea I had (computer hardware), so in some cases I can sell brand names a bit cheaper than large chains like, say Douglas.. Plus I don't have to invest in inventory, I can just order a product when the customer orders something and send it via shipping firm (local courier).
I was thinking maybe Instagram (as I was writing this, it occured to me that I could probably ask the supplier if they have promotional materials I could use for Instagram, doubtful, but it's worth a shot), but to be honest, I don't know what people want to see in a page, and what I could provide, other than "follow us for (more or less random) discount vouchers".
Hiring a pretty girl to talk or pose would probably cost too much and I would also need a photographer, and inventory, or to buy an expensive camera if I wanted to do my own shooting/recording.
Tiktok doesn't seem like something feasible, since I have a face for radio (ok maybe not that bad, but I'm not sure I would consider myself cover material), and besides even if I was I'm not sure I want my face out there. Not to mention the time it would take to make/edit videos and the complexity involved (I understand the videos need to be designed so that they loop perfectly, which means a lot of time and effort involved), which wouldn't allow me to do much else and besides, being a man, how am I gonna advertise women's fragrances I have for sale?
One other thing I thought about is maybe finding lower traffic bloggers, to pay for sponsored articles on their sites, and maybe printing some small flyers with the website address and dropping them off at corporate office space buildings, you know, the types that host multiple companies, and just dropping them along with other flyers, and maybe talk to the doorman to let me know when they're done, so I can come back and drop some more. That's one tactic I've seen adult massage parlors use (heh).
