Hello I am Sammy I am new to the forum. It is quite an inspiring place good to see like minded individuals working together. I am 21 years old and I have never started a business before. I have an idea for a food product that I would like to create and sell. My target market would be gym-goers and healthy eaters, and perhaps supplement companies/stores. I have a couple questions about starting my business. First off here is the very brief and vague plan I have to get going:
My first question is more food related, but when creating a recipe (do determine cost) how do I figure out the most efficient way to make something? For example if my recipe contains whipped cream, would it be cheaper to buy in bulk or make it myself? This is just an example but that is my general problem right now, determining the most cost efficient way to make my product. Is there a food scientist or some specialist to talk to?
How do I go about writing a nutrition label if one of my ingredients was using oreos for example? Do I have to ask the nabisco company to do this?
Where in this process do I go about registering as an official company (LLC)?
I know this is a lot but I would appreciate any and all advice
- create a recipe(s)
- design product(s)/packaging
- come up with a name
- website
- get equipment for storage and production, packaging,
- advertise/network
