After lurking in this forum and jumping from idea to idea I finally looked in the mirror a few weeks back and slapped myself into action. I read App Empire by Chad Mureta and it gave me some inspiration to find a Fastlane in the app world. After doing some research, I found that I could afford to outsource a simple app to get my feet wet and begin the "process" of what I want to accomplish over the next year. As of last night, the development for my first app "DogCap" is underway. It's nothing complicated, but hopefully with some good marketing I can have it sell well enough to reinvest in another app that will require a larger budget. I plan on keeping this thread updated during the development process for that app and will reveal more details about the app as I get closer to launch.
My primary purpose of developing apps is not to strike a one hit wonder (although that would be great...haha), but to get on the 'inside' of the app business and network while learning the ins and outs to build my website AppGuerrilla.com (currently under development. just purchased domain today).
I will use AppGuerrilla as my developer name and promote my apps from AppGuerrilla.com , but I also plan on keeping an updated blog (similar to Smashing Magazine, Tech Crunch, etc) where I will do case studies on apps, follow trends, and reveal some Guerrilla marketing techniques for independent developers. I hope to eventually be able to scale the site to reach an audience similar to the users in the Warrior Forum and create a social platform for independent developers to discuss mobile app development. It will appeal to the non-programmer type of developers like me, that otherwise would be lost in an Apple Dev forum or the XDA forum. The focus is going to be on effectively marketing and selling apps (Keyword optimization, trends, guerrilla marketing, social integration, tools, globalization etc.) I believe that is the most important part of the equation that is missing for independent developers.
As the site grows and I gain experience and insight I would like to eventually write an Ebook about App Marketing and go that route because I think there is a void in the app world for marketing advice. I have an optimistic outlook on the app economy. There was a 220% increase in iPhone developer job postings between 2010-2011. I hope to serve this audience with information, tools, and techniques that will outfit them with a competitive edge. It's quickly becoming an App-eat-app world and I believe it will take some expert marketing to succeed in the future (and Guerrilla marketing techniques to be able to keep up with the Rovios, Backflip Studios, and OmgPops of the app industry)
Current Goals:
I have a LONG road ahead and a lot of "process" to experience, but I am committed now! It feels great to finally action-take, instead of action fake! I have so much to learn, but I am looking at the FIRST step...not the top of the stairs that has forced me to wuss out so many times before. If you made it this far thanks so much for your attention and I look forward to any of your comments. I know that there are several guys in here in the app business, so if I can help in any way with what I learn I will be sure to share :smxB:.

Current Goals:
- Complete DogCap development and launch marketing campaign. Rinse and repeat with another app idea (if revenue is there)
- Launch AppGuerrilla.com
