I have my doubts about Groupon and many of the Groupon clones, but is there still space in the "deal of the day" arena?
I think the big pitfall with most of the deal sites is that many businesses with hard costs are losing money on the deals they're offering... Which is totally acceptable if there is a proper backend/upsell or some method in place to turn those customers into repeat customers.
Unfortunately, desperate business owners don't understand that concept in many cases, get greedy, need a cash injection, and they think Groupon is the answer.
But what about businesses with soft costs?
AppSumo has been doing well in this environment...
So, the question/topic I'm posing...
Could the "deal of the day/week/etc." model work if:
1. The deals being offered were things like software, information products, seminars, training, etc.
2. The audience was more targeted
