Hi all,
Excited to be part of this forum and to meet great people.
I'm a 24 (about to be 25) year old; born, raised and living in the UK (about an hour outside of London). I come from a fairly averagely middle class, (2nd generation) immigrant family. I worked hard as a kid (and still do), I studied PPE at Oxford University, worked for a technology startup for a couple of years and am now working for a large consulting firm (in technology).
I've always been driven to work to help others. I did a number of internships/work experiences in charity growing up and my long-term ambition is to work in International Development (there's a whole load of reasoning as to why I haven't tried to get into the field already and am holding this off until the longer-term but I won't get into that here). Before that though, my focus is on becoming financially independent - a piece of advice that's really stuck with me is to develop multiple streams of income, that way you can free yourself from financial pressures making your career choices for you; and I definitely don't want to be in consulting forever!
After reading TMF , I've been focused on creating a business (since this is really the only vehicle to true wealth!). I've joined this forum to help me keep myself accountable to this objective and to help with driving my business idea(s) forward as well as to help others with the same. I'm looking forward to meeting and working with other aspiring fastlaners, learning lots and making progress (big or small)!
