Better late than never! Writing up an Intro prior to Meetup 2016 to avoid an @r$3kicking!!
To MJ DeMarco & everyone involved in creating the Meetup - Thank You!
Have been earning money – providing service - since age 9 when I sold stuff in a contest. Won 2 prizes in that contest - which I have kept to this day. At age 12, I started mowing lawns in order to make money to upgrade my bike. I don't know if 'upgrade' was a buzzword back then, I just wanted a new bike! I thought I had a business. At that time, I had never heard the saying, "Congratulations, you gave yourself a job!". But the important thing was, I went from a 1-speed to a 10-speed.
Corporate refugee x2. Oh, no! I was a techie during all that corporate time! Have been studying online business for years but have just been running in place - it's time to drop the clutch.
Have been relatively successful in the slowlane world – I didn’t know any better - but have taken the opportunity to walk away from Corporate America in pursuit of v3.0, or is it v4.0, or even vX.0 of myself. Constant Iteration. Upward. In a way, I’m still age 9 – with a Vengeance!
How did I find my way here? Became aware of this forum back in 2011; someone online had written about investments and mentioned MJ DeMarco.
Have been online quite a few years but this is the only forum that I have felt compelled to follow; certainly the first forum I felt comfortable joining. Still the only one I am on. Joined quite a while back, didn’t see that I had a lot to offer so I just let the pros handle it while I read along. Good reading!
Looking forward to the presentations at the Meetup & meeting everyone. Talking Stick is within commuting distance so what better way to get face time with successful people?
Grew up on a farm - which can be slowlane, especially if you think that farming is a way of life. If you want to continue the way of life, you have to realize farming is a business! Whoops!
I live in the cottonfields near PHX ( no lie! ), yes "In Those Old Cottonfields Back Home". When them cotton bolls get rotten, you can't make ... Try getting that out of your head now. It's called Marketing. Meanwhile, I'll be looking for opportunities to Add Value here & add a few highlights so that other attendees will have a higher level of comfort with me.
To loop around and make an end this interminable post- when I was kid age 9, I read a book called "Henry Reed, Inc.". Henry was a kid who looked around his neighborhood, found a need and filled it. Henry provided service. Now, his businesses were all slowlane - but the book showed me that there is cash in providing service. Cash, which was in short supply around the farm.
Enjoyed writing this Intro - if anyone is looking for a few more stories, let me know.
Time to get back to studying the forum. Otherwise, this Intro may turn into my Outro.
Gonna pop the clutch.
Glad to be a part of TFF!
Thanks!
