Something I've been thinking about lately...
I think my attitudes have changed a lot towards products and how companies operate.
For example, a friend and I have been looking at the OneWheel -- which is basically an electric skateboard (but with a single, big tire).
They are pricey! 1k for the cheap one and 1800 for the higher end model.
The company sells accessories that are also somewhat pricey, 45 bucks for a handle, 100 bucks for a faster charger, etc.
My friend looks at this product and immediately thinks he's being scammed. "why do all these add-ons cost money?! they design it in California but the parts are all chinese, they just assemble them here"
It's the same way for cheaper electric skateboards..."they are just making money on the x, y, or z because their support sucks!"
I guess many people are jaded against companies and always thinking they are going to get scammed.
I look at the same product and appreciate the design, durability and reputation. The many people it employs and the happy customers it creates.
He looks at it and has disdain for a company for no reason other than that they are making a profit.
What a strange way to look at the world.
