. . . American car dealers are trying to "crush" the competition by driving our big, gas-guzzling land yachts over smaller, more fuel efficient imports . . .
Sad. Really, really sad.
They just don't get it.

PS BTW, I own an Excursion, and don't apologize for it. It gets 13 mpg, and weighs over 7,000# (more than 3 Honda Civics-- really). Yes, I use it to haul all kinds of things (it's a pick up truck w/a built in cap). But I own it for safety reasons. I was brushed off the road in my little Karmann Ghia convt too many times by wine tasters in big SUVs who were laughing so hard w/their passengers that they drifted right into oncoming traffic! I'll happily pay what it costs me in gas to get more safety for my kid. But I hope that someday, if there's an energy tax on the big SUVs and they decrease in number, that I'll be able to go back to a smaller vehicle.
