as the fastlane awaits for my lane change, i've taken many paths in my business pursuit. the other night i had a thought which opened my eyes. the possiblity of pursuing b2b along with or in place of my b2c business.
thinking about how to implement this new direction, i came across an important issue. if i am to provide a service to other businesses. should i create the software package and sell licenses (lease the package) or create a web portal in which they login and incorporate there page into the portal
so far here's the pro's and con's i see for each:
PORTAL
pros:
prevent's piracy
allows you to keep track of actual paying customers
cons:
more configuation necessary
SOFTWARE PACKAGE
pros:
less support necessary for configuration (i think)
cons:
subscibers no longer paying may still be able to use
i'll also note, the nature of the business makes a need for a monthly service instead of a one time purchase
any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
