So I was wondering why my posts didn't show under their respective hastags. The newest post was eight hours ago, they couldn't have been buried in the feed.
Apparently there are two forms of banned hashtags on Instagram.
The Mild Version:
There is no newest feed, your post has to become popular under that hashtag to show in the search results, mainly effects hashtags related to grahic content but also one like [HASHTAG]#asia[/HASHTAG] [HASHTAG]#eleveator[/HASHTAG] [HASHTAG]#instamood[/HASHTAG]
You can check this by clicking on the hashtag. If there is only the popular but not the newest section, you can pretty much forget about this hashtag.
The Extreme Version:
If you use one of these hashtags, your post won't show for that hashtag at all, only your existing audience will be able to see it. #IG [HASHTAG]#girlsofinstagram[/HASHTAG] [HASHTAG]#popular[/HASHTAG]
If you search for a hashtag and it shows e.g. 30000 posts but none get displayed it means it's
completly banned.
You can test each one individually, on http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/banned-instagram-hashtags_us_57347d6ae4b077d4d6f23122 you get a list, which will give you an idea.
Edit: According to the comments only the individual hashtag, but not the post as a whole is affected. Meaning the post will still show under all of the regular hashtags.
