Belated Introduction

Hey Guys,

I realised I hadn't made an intro post since joining the forum. (I will keep it short)

Up until 2014, I was in the typical slow lane, corporate job in IT, big house, cars, holidays, etc, I had a property investment portfolio and some financial security. 2014 whilst working for a hedge fund it was decided I was no longer needed and I was given 5 figures to leave.

Whilst I had longed for the day to get out of this rat race as I've always wanted to be in control of my own destiny, when the day came in 2014 it really knocked me for six as I had my identity wrapped up in the job and the title. After panicking and getting back into corporate life as an IT consultant until 2016, in parallel I was completely brought into the personal development/guru BS and despite having a property investment portfolio I believed these gurus and mentors had the 'secret' so 'invested' into there courses and programs, built a property management business instead of buying more assets, cutting to the chase this business failed in 2019.

Because I was desperate not to go back to the rat race, in 2018 I also started an online health and fitness business for men over 40 (following my own personal health transformation) and after investing 6 figures into the business and not getting traction in 2020 I had to accept it wasn't going to work.

Not wanting to quit but also not taking the time to step back and reflect, I went again buying another course in buying businesses from a well-known US guru, this led to acquiring 2 distressed print-on-demand e-commerce businesses to turning them around, not boring you with the details again this didn't work out.

All of this together with a very hostile 5-year divorce, I find myself turning 50 in 2 days and right back at almost zero.

As of now, I need to generate income and so I am restarting my IT career looking toward Cyber Security consulting, I am keen to connect with anyone in the IT sector and the UK

Despite all of the above, I have not given up on my desire to build a business and create financial security and time freedom but I will be doing it with a very different approach and not cutting off the oxygen supply (i.e Income) before the business can support it.
