Hey friends it's the strange Aussie guy here throwing some words out at you hard and fast
All jokes aside though i've stumbled across this forum the same way i'm sure most of you have which is via the @MJ DeMarco books which i'm just about to finish now. These have been a real game changer, although this forum is on another level. Have sifted through some of the posts and this is exactly what i've been looking for for a very long time, very appreciative of all you people on here.
I'm a 24 Y/O Sydneysider, at the moment basically another cog in the wheel, self employed working in the building industry, I don't mind the work although if money weren't an issue i'd definitely drop the days full of inhaling dust, digging holes and hard labor in a heartbeat. I don't regret my choices up until now, I think working in a building trade instils a lot of work ethic and mental fortitude among other traits, it definitely feels good to know that you have built up hand skills and knowledge, it takes a long time to feel comfortable with the process of building a new home or renovating an existing one, but its definitely been worth all the pain in the lead up to this moment now. Working by myself most days, i'm faced with problems on the daily that I need to solve on my own, I screw up my fair share and am definitely learning how to manage making mistakes and correcting those mistakes which is valuable, I know that I have built plenty of qualities that would transfer over into any business through working in my trade.
Although, it's definitely come to my attention that 40+ more years of this work is not what I want to be doing. I have an hourly rate set upon my head, and while I am appreciative of the rates that I can charge for myself, my hourly rate is never ever going to be worth the limited time and potential that is wrapped within that time that slowly escapes me. There is definitely potential to scale in the building industry with a building company, although I know what would be required and I know in my heart that its not the route that I want to take myself on. That's why i've made the decision to knuckle down and invest in myself and my future by taking some calculated risks and working out how to turn some ideas into scalable business opportunities.
My passions are within health and fitness, martial arts to be more precise. I train Brazillian Jiu Jitsu 5-6 days a week, boxing 3-4 days a week and 'movement train' or do bodyweight training and yoga as strength and conditioning. I have big goals with competitive Jiu Jitsu and am now making a shift into MMA, a lot of my time is invested into my training and learning of new physical skills. I don't know what exactly I want to do with all of this invested time I put into this but I know that its so valuable to me and I want to keep healthy and mobile for life so that I can continue my path of learning through these arts. Once time and $ permits i'd love to help others realise their own physical potentials one day too.
I really have no idea which direction i'm headed just yet business wise, I have had some brief stints with dropshipping and have been learning a lot about investing and the crypto space, and i've already learnt a lot of valuable skills that a tradie working outside away from computers most of the day might not be naturally exposed to. I know i'm committed to building some sort of business its all up in the air at the moment though, all I know is I have a burning desire to make a lot more with this time that I've been blessed with on this earth, I will continue to study, learn and screw up, but most importantly execute on my ideas until the pieces of the puzzle start making more sense.
Now that this is out of the way, time to do some more post rummaging, see all you guys up on the 50th floor
