Hi all, this is where I introduce myself.
I'm a mid-30's, married-with-kids former entrepreneur who spent a little too much, saved way too little, fell in love, got mentally fat and lazy and in a grass-is-greener moment of weakness, took a job at a state university.
Fast forward to 3 years of Peter Principle promotions, getting my masters after I swore I wouldn't (75% off is hard to turn down) and here I am, a fraud with someone else's career.
I feel incredibly fortunate. I am incredibly fortunate. I'm not in debt, not unhappy with my family, nor am I at odds with my friends (although I've come to terms with needing a different circle.)
It's weird to want it more now than when I was younger and blessed by circumstance, but it's true. I know why I haven't slept well in forever; it's hard to rest when you haven't really worked. I need to do it again, the right way, unselfishly, with purpose and a moral compass. I don't need things, but I'm drawn to creating wealth for myself through others. I don't want to take a big swing, I want to build it brick by brick.
I read TMFL a few years ago and enjoyed it then, read the forum too, but with one foot in and one foot out. This place isn't like most. There are genuinely great people here sharing their processes without expecting anything in return other than someone putting them to good use. It's a group I'd like share with and contribute to.
So what's my plan? I won't lie, I suffer from shiny object syndrome. There are so many things I could do, it's difficult to find the one thing I should do. I know enough to get myself into trouble in just about anything, which means I don't know any one thing deeply enough to be lethal.
I'm hungry but know it's a long term game; I'm finally jumping back in to play. So, Hello!
