Dear friend,
A while ago...
One of my friends invited me to teach marketing to his students in his podcasting academy.
And because I’m such a professional…
*slaps-face*
But I’m smart (at least, that’s what my mother tells me… and you know how it goes… mom is always right)...
So I decided to show them the importance of “Tone Of Voice” in marketing… and... how the way you speak will automatically attract your dream fans.
Here’s what I said:
Imagine you help both men and women lose weight.
You would have to approach both genders with a different tone of voice.
(yes I said ‘both genders’ because there are only men and women. Because you identify as an ‘attack helicopter’ doesn’t make you one… but it sure makes you delusional)
Enough ranting today, where were we?
Oh, yeah, helping men and women lose weight…
You see...
Men are more direct, and straight to the point, but women are more ‘soft’ and ‘flowery’ in their language.
For example, if I’d write a weight loss advertisement targeting young men... I’d use the following language:
“Hey dude, do you feel like a fat pig when you look in the mirror?”
But, if I were to target women, I’d say:
“Hey girl, do you spend 2 hours in front of the mirror, disliking what you see?”
Same message, with a different tone of voice.
Well, as soon as I finished the analogy...
“You’re wrong, my husband would feel disgusted by your message!!!”
Little did she know she actually proved my point haha.
(and she forgot life-rule #2006: “Michiel is always right, even when you think he’s wrong, he’s right” — Joking… kinda.)
EXACTLY!
I shouted.
“The way I just spoke instantly repelled your Husband, because his tone of voice is different.”
“But,” I continued — the men who use the same type of language would feel attracted to me.
I could hear a pin drop.
So the main takeaway is this:
Your tone of voice is a magnet, and every magnet repels as much as it attracts.
I hope you found this post valuable.

Men Communicate On
A Whole Different Level Than Women.

About Attracting The Right People — It’s About Filtering
Out The Wrong Ones Just As Aggressively!
