Hey Fastlane Forum,
I'm building a web development agency (cliche, yes I know) with the goal of earning $52k/yr.
Why such a low number?
Well, my real drive is to create startups that build world-changing technology. After a couple years of pursuing this, I began seeing a vicious cycle:
I'm not trying to build anything crazy here, I'm just trying to use my current high-leverage skills to build a business from which I can almost entirely remove myself while still earning $1k/week. After spending a week building leads, I realized that me doing sales was just as unscalable as me developing, designing, and project managing (if not even more unscalable).
Here's my problem.
I'm deeply familiar with design and development, so I know I can outsource and manage those components, and project management is something I'll keep doing until I get close to my exit number, but building a sales team is something I know basically nothing about.

- I earn enough money to survive the next 3-6 months
- Work on startup ideas
- Become desperate for money when cash runs out
- Drop everything to find freelance work
- Spend 3+ months working on some soul-crushing project
- Repeat
I'm not trying to build anything crazy here, I'm just trying to use my current high-leverage skills to build a business from which I can almost entirely remove myself while still earning $1k/week. After spending a week building leads, I realized that me doing sales was just as unscalable as me developing, designing, and project managing (if not even more unscalable).

- Commission only
- 25% commission per sale, 40% on sales above $20k
- Minimum sale price of $5k
- Make sure they know how to sell via value pricing - not commodity pricing
- Make sure they don't think its scammy
- Send them educational videos
- Make sure they don't undersell
- They know what is and isn't a $5k website before I let them start
- Make sure they don't oversell
- Rep needs to know how to diagnose client's problems - not just sell everything they can
Here are my questions.
- How long should I make the interview?
- Should there be multiple interviews?
- What criteria did I miss from the above list?
- Any tips you wish you had been given as an inexperienced noob?
