(This is inspired by some of the things I read in the "think and Grow Rich" thread. Instead of sending that thread off on a tangent, I decided to start a new one.)
I've thought about this before - It seems to me that some people have a natural aptitude for making money, some people have a natural aptitude for healthy relationships, and some might have both, or neither.
For example: I have had very little problem in my life with the relationship category. When there is a problem, I somehow know how to respond to get things back on the right track. Business has not always come as naturally. In spite of a good business education and strong role models, success in business has been much more of a struggle - some good runs and some very challenging times.
A majority of the self-help books out there are of these two topics: money (business, success) and relationships. We see gurus in the money category such as Tony Robbins, and we see gurus in the relationships category like Dr. Phil. There are a lot of people seeking help in both categories. Some people seek out one or the other or both. Some don't seem to want it or need it.
I know people who just seem to intuitively know how to make money and create a successful business venture. They don't wrestle with it, they just go out and do it. Sometimes these people can't keep a relationship together to save their lives and have been through two, three or more partners. Some have success with both and are able to maintain a balance. And obviously, some people can't find success with career or relationships no matter what they do.
Maybe it has to do with the businesses they choose, and the partners they choose.
Skills can be learned to do better in both business and relationships, but the person with a natural aptitude frequently seems to do it better and with less effort than those who follow a prescribed formula.
What are your thoughts, observations? Is there some truth to this?
Why do you think some people seem to succeed so easily and others struggle so much?
