It's funny how, after reading TMF and other related books, you start to look at the world differently and notice things that you never used to. Over the weekend I started re-watching HBO's The Wire. It's by far my favorite TV series, and I've seen it before, but this scene stuck out to me this time:

It resonates with me personally as well. Being a design engineer, I have had my designs incorporated in several products and even gone through patent evaluations. In the end though, it is of course the employer (aka fastlaner) that owns the design and all of the benefits/returns that come with it.
