I just recently joined this forum and read through a lot of thread, really great stuff!!!
I would like to build a portfolio of website for passive income, I have the possibility to invest financially and was looking at www.flippa.com , I can see many existing businesses for sale, as well as brand new website - I figure going this route would save me a lot of time/money rather than building it myself.
Of course existing businesses are more expensive mainly because they already have a customer base to start from and will save a lot of marketing time/money compared to brand new sites, however I found some of the starter sites really great and honestly much cheaper than I would have thought.
Before purchasing a website (either for a new or existing business), what are the top 5 factors that make you decide whether it has good potentials or not?
Once purchased, what are the top 5 ways to push it to the public and get traffic on the site?
I know these are very general questions and it depends from business to business, but I see there are very successful posters on this site, and even a high level idea of what to look at would be of great help to me.
I see some website offer "extras" if I purchase them directly rather than bidding on them, like free support and a mailing list of targeted visitors, would that be worth the extra cost?
Also, would you suggest to create a Facebook/Twitter, etc page for every site? If yes, what is the best way (possibly avoiding spamming it) to get the website known via social networking?
And last (for now), how to get the search optimized in order to get the site in the first few google search pages?
