I have years of experience in sales and sales management and previously worked in sales for a few seo companies.
I am evaluating starting my own SEO agency as a fastlane business.
I know how to get the leads, I know how to sell the product and can build a sales team around the product having done so previously (for an employer). I can also build the team to manage the deliverables.
I am attracted to the business because of its recurring income model but I am hesitating on heading down this path because I am not 100% confident that this business can get me in the fastlane.
I am hoping this forum can help me work out my CENTS analysis and guide me towards a solution.
Need: Yes; Every business with a website needs traffic. Every website owner wants traffic from google and is willing to pay.
Entry: Not Sure; Although it is a competitive space I know how to get in the door with potential clients and close them. Direct Sales is my path to entry.
Control: Yes; I am building this from scratch and maintain total control over pricing, product, etc.
Scale: Not Sure; The potential market is huge. The plan is to grow via a sales team following a proven process for lead gen, qualifying, presenting, closing. While the business can grow exponentially, it is not likely to attain 1000 customers overnight.
Time: No; This is a Human Resource System and requires management, training, hiring, customer service, outsourcing, contracting, etc. This business typically can only be operated during regular business hours so there is no 24/7 income.
What are your thoughts on how an SEO agency stacks up against the CENTS test?
Any FastLaners have any experience in building a marketing agency or making a service business fastlane?
