I've been doing some research on the business of creating apps. It seems like there is some overhead in creating apps for the App store. Currently, I'm using a Windows 7 OS and have no plans to purchase a Mac, which seems to be needed for iPhone/iPad development. That leaves me with creating apps for the Android (for now at least).
For those who have experience creating and distributing apps, do you think a single developer can make significant profits building apps exclusively for the Android? Assuming that an app achieves moderate success (a few thousand downloads).
I'm not planning on writing games since they may take more time to create and seems to have higher competition out there. Also, I read that one can rent a Mac by accessing it remotely, but I don't plan on going that route.
