I'd like to start a thread on what careers are suitable for particular entrepreneurship ventures....
The goal isn't to promote working for a living first, but more of "you're involved already in X/Y/Z.....your knowledge and experience would be very well suited for going into ______".
For example:
A structural engineer, general contractor, real estate financier, or architect, might find themselves interested in real estate development and pursuing it from there. Anyone can go into development, but the careers mentioned above are a very natural tie in for this sort of venture.
A lot of people who work formally in marketing seem to have great choice in fast lane opportunities. I remember marketing professors in my MBA having this sort of subtle cockiness that marketing was the most important function of a company (for making money), but at this point I'd say that it's mostly true.
I see a lot of fast lane stuff situated in the e-commerce sector. It started in '98-'99 and shows no signs of ever slowing down:
Google
Myspace
Youtube
etc.
I'd like to open my mind to this sorta thing, and was wondering if there were good books or something that can get someone going in this direction if he/she wanted to?
A lot of this stuff does seem to be developed on the fly.....part of the allure.
Let's see where this thread takes us. I'm sure I'm not the only 9-5er here...hehe.
