Cash Register POS Integration on Receipts

Hi all,

Does anyone here have experience with integrating messages on receipts through popular cash register POS (Point of Sale) systems? If so, what are the most common POS systems you've worked with?

I've been trying to research this on Google for weeks and it's not like finding an API for a popular social network. Documentation is hard to find and it's also hard to find the most popular systems in use. What I've mostly found is advertisements for popular systems companies are selling, not actually in use today.

If anyone has experiences, please post here. Or, if you're looking for an interesting project, and have a ton of experience in this area, I may want you on my team.
