I’ve come across a dairy chemical services business that has been ran forever, originally it was started by my pa who sold it off a good 25+ years ago.
The business involves selling cleaning chemicals to dairies (im in Victoria, Australia) and was ran by a single bloke (the man who bought it off my pa)
He has decided to retire and shut up shop completely, and went as far recommending his competitors to his customers
No employees before being shut, constantly doing 300k net profit (3mil sales) (surely room for upsells here)
I’m considering starting my own service business, and may be able to get a list of his customers (unsure if that would happen) and the goal would be to scale it up with employees and taking market share from other companies.
The big value skew here is that he would go and clean the dairies himself, not just drop off the chemicals. I also like the idea of it being a business no one my age (I’m 21) would be remotely interested in going into
The big issue I see with the business is that accounts receivable are always like 300k
