Hi everyone,
Just been mulling over a potential niche market that i'v found in my area and was looking at two different possible options.
1) was a wholesale club. People join to become members. Members have access to the entire online store from a range of distributors. Price they pay is wholesale plus costs (eg shipping). Fee would be from 60-150 dollars a year (lots of variables to still work out)
2) was a discount online retailer. Nothing new about this one either, just none exist in this market. Open to the public, money made off mark up rather than membership fee.
These are the two options in their very basic form.
As far as I can see there are a few pros and cons for both.
The club idea woud be good as there would be revenue regardless of sale volumes. Also little stock would be kept on hand. Orders would be placed on demand. There could be a backlash from other retails or some distributors might be reluctant to sell to us (working on this aspect).
The online store would have more competition as they would be closer to other online stores/retail stores. Probably cause less backlash as well. Revenue comes from sales only. Would have to keep a level of stock on hand - higher start up costs.
Thoughts on these two models?
