OK I bought a new house and we have had the insurance company come in and check out the house and we had to do some rewiring to get the house up to code. We did and they inspected it and all is good. The real estate agency had some one go through the house to appraise it when it was up for sale. We have records of that.
So all was good. Then I got a letter in the mail last week from the city saying they needed to have someone walk through my house before the 31st of March. I'm assuming this is for tax purposes. My wife is freaking out thinking that they are gonna go through and find things that need to be done and stuff not up to code. I am not sure this is what this is. I thought this was more for evaluating my taxes and coming up with a new number.
Is anyone familiar with this? Can the city really come in, even if successfully inspected by our insurance company and demand we make repairs? Or are they just looking to walk through and evaluate?
Any help on this would be great. I would love to calm my wife down. Not sure what her problem is but she has this attitude like we are getting screwed. I don't have that attitude even though it seems like since we have lived here we have had several inspections etc.
