Client referral business - Quick question

I was reading RichKids thread about directing customers to someone offering a service.

I hope to set up a small business here in Ireland doing something similar.

My main worry is how do you ensure you get your cut.?

If, for example, you set up a customer with a provider, what is to stop the provider from completing the job, not letting you know and keeping 100% of the income.?

Its probably a very obvious answer but one which has eluded me, probably due to my own stupidity and ignorance.!

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated
