A quick story that aims to serve as a motivator for the slowlaners. I live in East Europe, working in the IT sphere, but most like a freelancer- not having to go to office or follow strict working hours. Payment is great, i am in the top 1 % of salaries. Things were looking really fine, as i even managed to get some freelancing project that pays quite decent and i can do both at the same time as i am pretty well organized.
And couple of days ago i receive a late call from our CPO and we arrange a meeting on the next day. He says i have good and bad news. - we are letting 3 of the 5 people of your team go, but you are staying. So just like that am feeling the heat. Than god i have the freelance stuff , as it will be able to support me.
So always remember you can get the sack without a reason/warning etc if you are working solely for a salary. If you can not get a business running at least try to have several sources of income, as this equals freedom. And never get too comfortable with the situation, as things can change in a second.
